We’re hosting Shannon Downey, the artist and author behind Badass Cross Stitch, for an afternoon of creativity, conversation, and connection at The Craft Place.
This Craftivism (craft based activism ) afternoon will consist of a book talk and Q&A, book signing, and of course making your own craft.
The Craft | Yay Flags!
“Yay Flags” are small, handmade banners that display a word or phrase you want to put out into the world. It’s a simple, approachable project meant to help you express yourself — whether that’s joy, resistance, humor, or encouragement.
You’ll make two yay flags - one to keep for yourself, and one to gift. At the end of the event, you’ll exchange your second flag with someone you meet — a small, handmade way to connect with someone new.

Come solo or bring a friend - either way, you’ll be in good company.

** Feel free to stay after the event to continue building community and/or partake in another craft available for purchase from The Craft Place.
** Note, pending your progress, you may not be able to fully complete two flags during the event. We'll start by having you create the flag to exchange and if you need more time at the end you're welcome to stay until 5pm (close) to complete your flag OR you can take your supplies home.
