Oh have we got a fun new adventure for you!

>>> International Analog Day <<<

What is it? Something we (The Joyful Menace Society) made up to make life a little better! And we want YOU to get involved.

Here’s the deal…everything is hard and weird right now. We wanted to create an opportunity for folks to:

1) Have something fun to look forward to

2) Have the experience of bringing people together for a fun time that de-centers technology

3) Gain or level-up your skills as a community builder

Intrigued? We hope so!

What is it all about?

WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL ANALOG DAY?

A day dedicated to anything/everything that is not digital! We hope you will avoid screens, devices, and all other tech-based distractions. We want you to create space to engage in fun analog activities with friends and community. That could look like: crafting, board games, reading, baking, nature walks, letter writing, etc. Spend the day (or at least part of it) pretending it’s 1902! Get old school with it.

WHEN?

The last Saturday in February (This year that is February 28, 2026)

The timing for your gathering is up to you. We recommend a minimum of 2-3 hours.

WHERE?

Anywhere you like! Invite a few friends to your house, hit up the local library, head to a park, the beach, a coffee shop, your favorite small businesses, church/temple/mosque, community center, school, playgrounds – anywhere you can gather!

WHO?

YOU! International Analog Day is open to everyone. If you are reading this, we are hoping that you are interested in organizing an International Analog Day event for your friends and/or community. We need community and connection now more than ever. This is a low-stakes, high-reward opportunity to bring people together for joy and connection.

WHY?

Digital technology is wonderful and useful, but it can get in the way of engaging in meaningful ways with our friends and neighbors. We want you to spend some time not staring at a screen to strengthen bonds with your people. We want folks to have a little digital detox, reset your nervous systems, slow down, and unplug to connect. Plus, it’s FUN and who couldn’t use a little fun right now?

HOW?

That is totally up to you, dear friend! Maybe you gather friends for a long hike and instead of taking pictures, you sketch what you see. Perhaps it’s planning a marathon of your favorite table-top games at your local library. You could post up at your favorite brewery or craft store for a knitting, crochet, and embroidery palooza. Invite some friends over to bake. Who hasn’t wanted to have a sleepover where everyone just brings a book to read in blanket forts?! There’s no one way to do this. The key is to spend a day (or part of a day) in connection with your community, finding joy in life without screens.

Want to learn more and get involved?!

GREAT! We spent months making this toolkit. It gives you all the info you need AND it will help you start to dream up and plan for your event. The Joyful Menace Society team will be by your side the whole time!

Step 1: Read through the toolkit and start daydreaming

Step 2: Register as a host

Step 3: Spread the word about International Analog Day to your communities

Once you have registered to show you are interested in playing, we will be in touch with support and resources. It’s that simple!
